Research & Development

Healthscope Molecular has a strong research and development division. Our current research program is focussed on the clinical utility of pharmacogenomics, an area of great excitement for the improvement individualised drug selection and dosing.

As part of our ongoing research program, Healthscope Molecular is currently taking part in an international collaborative trial based at the Unversity of Melbourne. The trial aims to investigate how the genetic makeup of a patient with clinical depression influences their response to anti-depressant medication. This trial is one of the largest of its kind, and when completed should see improved guidelines for medicatiing patients with clinical depression.

In 2009, Healthscope, in conjunction with the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and Circadian Technologies,  is validating a new diagnostic to help identify cancers of unknown origin.
